Location

I live on the California / Oregon border in Siskiyou County, California. Siskiyou County is known for it's many beautiful wilderness areas, national forests and ski resorts. We have the Marble Mountain Wilderness, Klamath National Forest, Mount Shasta, Mount Ashland and a multitude of lakes and rivers.

My children are raised and I am retired from the U.S. Army. I served from 1986 off and on until I was wounded in Iraq in 2003. These days, I spend most of my time with my Dachshunds or in the outdoors.

I am just learning to show my Dachshunds. They are all beautiful and smart Dachshunds and deserve to be shown. I also study dog medicine and genetics. Although I am by no means an expert in either field, I'm always learning. I'd like to know everything I can about the Dachshund breed. The medicine, whelping, showing, events, standards and genetics among other things.

If you want a great Dachshund, this is the place. Without reservation we highly recommend the puppies from Shasta Dachshunds. We have had our Charley for about a month, and he is more than we ever hoped for in any dog. Charley is a pure puppy with all that implies as he finds his share of trouble, but he is also a pure delight. From the moment we picked him up at Phoenix Sky harbor, he has been a pleasure. He always has a ready smile to help take your mind off other worries. You can't go wrong with Shasta Dachshunds. Joe is great to work with when picking out a puppy. They really worry about finding good homes for their dogs and Charley shows that they truly care for and about their dogs. They work with you on picking the right flights and times for your convenience and keep you informed each step through the entire process.  I had heard of some dachshund puppies on KSL.com so I went hunting.  I came across Shasta Dachshunds and previewed the site.  The longhaired miniature dachshunds looked beautiful!  They were also the perfect age to be sold.  So, I phoned Joe and made arrangements.  We bought 2 brothers which are PERFECT!  Joe and I made travel arrangements which fell together flawlessly.  Luke and Trever were flown in a medium crate from Medford, Oregon to Salt Lake City, Utah where we met them.  They have adjusted beautifully and looked better than I had imagined from the photos.  They are a regular part of the family already!  We highly recommend miniatures dachshunds from Joe as they clearly come from a happy environment, have unique breeding and are gorgeous!
